"F" is for Friends Who Do Stuff Together...

I love my apartment and everything to do with it.  My landlords are amazing, the location is great, and the place itself is brand spanking new!  There's just one problem.  I'm all alone.  Don't read too far into that!  Jax still enjoys her personal space.  lol  While I'm not ready for a room mate of ANY kind, I would like a pet.  It's time for Jax to get a little critter companionship.  I would like a little buddy to keep me company at home and smother me with unconditional love.

One thing you guys don't know about me is that I'm the queen of critters.  No, I did not dub myself with that title.  I earned it years ago.  You name the creature and at one point or another, I had one.   I've had fish, fire bellied toads, pac man frogs, scorpions, a one eyed mouse, and a king snake.  The list doesn't end there.  Those were just a few of my little babies.

This is  Cob.  He's an albino corn snake.  He was a lovely pet that I loved to play around with.  He was my third snake and died an early death.  My old land lord decided to exterminate without my knowledge one day while I was at work.  And you can add killing an innocent animal to the list of reasons why I moved out!

This is Beautiful.  Although I named him Beautiful, my dad would only call him Ralph!  He is an Iguana.  He was a gift from my ex-b/f, TheGreek.  This little guy grew up way to fast.  After a year and a half he hit about 4-1/2 feet long with a tail.  I was forced to give him up for adoption to a great reptile lover.  This picture was taken after he was adopted.  At least my baby looks happy and I get to see him from time to time :(

This is Deraj.  Jared spelled backwards after the beautiful Jared Padalecki.  He is a Hedgehog.  This little guy was so much fun!!  Until he pricked you...

This is Mada.  Adam spelt backwards for Adam Lambert.  He was also a Hedgehog.  This is Deraj's brother.  Tell me he isn't the most adorable thing you've ever seen!!  I loved this little guy to death.  Plus, he never pricked me.  Ever...

This is Mac N. Cheese.  I just called him Mac.  He was a gecko.  I had him longer than any other pet.  I took him everywhere with me!  This little guy went for visits to nanny's house and even to my dad's shop to bask outside in the sun.  During my surgery, Madre babysat him for 3 months until I was well enough to take care of him again.  He really was my baby.

And who could forget my two little wiener pooches??  On the left is Sir Reginald Winston and on the right is Sir Phillip Bluda.  They are Dachshunds.  They have been in my family forever.  Even though they no longer live with me, they will always be my boys.

So now that you're a little more familiar with my long list of pets, I have no idea who to bring into my new home.  Sometimes I feel like adopting the same type of animal is like replacing the ones I had prior. I mean, how could I get another gecko after having the best one in the world??  I'm going to have to really think about this, but in a few months, I hope to have a new room mate.

What pets do you spoil rotten??

-Jax

  2. Omg! You really are an animal lover. That hedgehog is sooooooooo adorable looking. Awwwww... I love dogs and I spoil em to death. My dog passed away a year ago and I haven't gotten over her yet so I'm petless right now.

  4. Growing up we had like 30 cats. They were all street cats that hung out in our backyard garden. Later one we adopted 5 when we moved. I would Like a dog and later on maybe have some cool bird like a hawk or falcon. If I had the money I would in a heart beat get a water monitor and one of those horned lizards or bearded dragons. Animals are awesome.

  5. @Dreadnaught...That's awesome. Bearded Dragons are ok but they aren't as much fun to play with. They are just kind of cool to look at. I also don't believe you can potty train those.

If you're looking for a cool, cheaper pet I would look into the Argentina PacMan Frog. They legit look like PacMan!! They get so huge that you eventually need to feed them mice. Google them! :)

  6. AWwww I love that lizard Following

  7. Well the cat is kind of biased, get a "savannah" cough cough. You will never ever be lonely with one of them, you may never be able to get them to shut up either..haha.

Wow you've had tons of critters indeed. Only thing I find with some of them though is they aren't as interactive. All animals are great but as a pet I go for cats as they are interactive and you can leave them alone without having to take them outdoors. I would have a dog though if wasn't in a crap apartment, mine is crap could be worse, but still crap.

Oh and roomates suck too, never ever having another one of them.

  9. I always wanted an iguana. I love those things. And your snake was beautiful. You've had more animals than me, and I thought I was bad. Right now I have 3 dogs and 2 cats and I spoil all of them. I always believed that when you need an animal, the right one will find you. What animal feels "right" to you now?

  10. I used to have a desert iguana and a pet garter snake. I miss those guys!

  11. Glad you didn't name your hedgehog Sonic! (too many people do that!)

My girlfriend and I have ten cats.

  13. Wow those animals are so cool! We only have a Lab at my house. Would you consider getting a ferret?

    ReplyDelete
  14. @Anne...Iguanas are amazinggg! The best part is you can potty train them to go in kitty litter.

and I'm not sure what animal feels "right"...I gotta go to some expos and see if any goggly eyes call my name. I'm very interested in the Micro Pigs. They are adorable, but thats impractical in my apartment.

  15. @Mad Mike...I've never had a ferret!! That's an idea. I need to do some research. :)

  16. I have no pets, but if I could tame a wild boar, I'd walk it down the main thoroughfare at dawn every night.

  17. So cute! Especially the hedgehogs...

  18. Wow, you really are the queen of critters haha. I would probably only be able to touch the dogs, but hey, that's just me! You are a lot braver than I am! :)

  20. I can't believe this but my sister in law is a science teacher and she got an albino corn snake for her classroom and named him Cob too! How crazy is that?! My girls would love to hang out with you. They are all about those kind of critters. I prefer my dreadlocked Puli, named Jamaica :-)

  21. What about a tarantula? They are really cute once you get used to them and it feels awesome when they are crawling all over you.

I unfortunately can't get one cause The Editor is terrified of anything with more than 4 legs and crawls.

  22. @JOutlaw...my ex and I had a tarantula and a scorpion. The tarantula was named after him and the scorpion was named after me. Let's just say I was a little afraid of that giant spider...(Ok, maybe A LOT afraid...)

  25. You're amazing! You must be a caring person to have looked after so many animals. I've got a cat called Cookie & my daughter wants a dog, do we're looking for one. The ones you had were so cute!

  26. ok, those hedgehogs are adorable. i can't get on board with the snakes/geckos/iguanas, though. to each his own!

i've had black labs my whole life. we had 2 when my family lived in CA, but we couldn't bring them with us when we moved to TX, so we gave them to a friend. Saul and i got our little Belladonna 5 years ago and i am obsessed with her - seriously, the list of things i love go like this:

    Saul
    Bella
    everything else.

  27. @Gloria...my g/f has a bunny and I'm deathly allergic to it!! Go figure! Who's allerigc to a BUNNY? Of course, I would be...

  28. oh my gosh that hedge hog is too cute!

  29. You are courageous with the snake thing--no way the Mrs. would let one near this house. The older boy and I go find them and photograph them in the woods, and that is close enough for her.

We have a large shedding dog and that is more than enough for us.

And thanks for the Sponge Bob reference--I'll have that song going through my head all day now (I enjoy Plankton's part especially).

Enjoy your cold NE day Jax.

  34. HAHAHA! Your pets were definitely more exotic than mine Jax. I had a bird (my parents lied and said he flew away, but really they got tired and let him lose), a goldfish (jumped out of the bowl...i guess the ph was off) and 2 dogs: miniature schnauzer named missy and a mutt named bunny. They were the best, but unfortunately passed due to old age. I don't want anymore. No more vet bills. LOL Good luck! Can't wait to hear who/what made the cut. :D

  41. LOVE THIS so much, so, so much!!! And I'm appalled about your corn snake- what! How did they get away with that? So sad.

I love all of your critters, I seriously would want any of them. My new apartment doesn't allow pets so I have to hold off again on my decision to have one but ugh, I want all of these!
